When it comes to modular buildings and creating environmentally sound, reliable and durable building solutions, there are few better alternatives than our modular container hire. However, there are always new developments in the world of alternative construction as people and companies seek out innovative solutions to a whole range of construction, architecture and housing needs.
One such innovation comes in the form of EverBlock, a building material which takes great inspiration from the world’s favourite construction block, Lego. Free from the use of any construction materials and usual specialist necessities – such as glue, cement and brick – the EverBlock provides you with the option of building everything from dividing walls and shelter, through to more unusual uses, such as for bespoke modular furniture!
Inventor’s Modular Background
It will come as no surprise to learn that such an idea stems from a modular history. Inventor, New York based Arnon Rosan, has a background in working with modular roadway systems and flooring, as well as experience aiding with disaster relief.
To meet a range of needs, the company offer an array of sizes, including a smooth cap which can be used to create a more aesthetically pleasing finish, as well as creating a more comfortable top for the constructed furniture. Similar to Lego, the blocks slot together with the use of gripping protrusions and can be re-separated through either simply pulling them apart or using a flathead screwdriver to provide extra leverage.
The beauty of the EverBlock materials is that they can be used fairly easily in constructing anything from chairs and shelves to even dining room tables; although we’d advise testing them out before committing to loading the table up with drinks and food! There’s an accident waiting to happen!
Accident Relief Implications
The main planned use for EverBlock is through their implementation in relation to accident relief. Stating their potential future use, Rosan said, “There is a strong need for rapidly deployable rigid shelters that transport compactly and efficiently yet provide durability and a more substantial feel. While tents are great, having a rigid block wall offers a greater level of protection and prevents unauthorized entry. EverBlock would offer superior protection to most tents and heat and air conditioning could be provided within the shelter.”
With modular buildings aiding to create safer cities through their application in skyscrapers and their ability over brick to withstand more extreme weather, it’s great to see that another innovation is being utilised with helping the development of construction in areas that experience wilder weather systems, and even war. There is an exciting and hopeful future ahead when it comes to the implementation of such innovative construction techniques, and we can’t wait to see where and how it progresses.
